This note is on handling EPS files generated by GEDPS.
A number of different applications support "EPS", or Encapsulated
PostScript files. These files follow certain comment structuring
conventions in the PostScript language so that applications can know
about the files without necessarily being able to interpret their
contents.
The only fly in the ointment is that each application requires/supports
different parts of the EPS specification. We have tried to test a
number of different applications, and will continue to modify GEDPS to
support more of them. It appears a configuration file will eventually
be required to do a reasonable job.
Ventura publisher. This application has handled all our various formats
of EPS file without change. Version 0.15 and newer of GEDPS is tested
with this application
Word for Windows. This application requires the %%EOF comment or that
the last character of the file be a ^D (no CR/NL afterward). Version
1.03 and newer of GEDPS is tested with this application. We recommend
the use of ATKIMP.FLT to import DFDs into Word for Windows.
Powerpoint. We'll keep watching this one, but previous versions of the
application used a macintosh-like header in its EPS. We recommend the
use of ATKIMP.FLT to import DFDs into Powerpoint.
Pagemaker. The current version of this application is untested at this time.
We recommend the use of ATKIMP.FLT to import DFDs into Pagemaker.
Input from registered users will affect both the breadth of this list,
and the intensity with which we work it.
